Gran Turismo Sport to Demo on VW’s Stand at Goodwood
If you’re a fan of the Gran Turismo racing game series and you happen to be at the Goodwood Festival of Speed then you’re in luck. The much anticipated Gran Turismo Sport for Playstation 4 will be making its high profile debut on the Volkswagen stand. Oh, and while you can’t buy it until November, you can actually take the controls and actually play a demo version this weekend.
Polyphony Digital Inc. and Sony Computer Entertainment have joined forces to give UK gamers their first taste of the next in the Gran Turismo franchise. Brands Hatch and a selection of VW cars have been recreated in stunning detail and will be playable. Drivers will be able to take their seat in a custom built PlayStation gaming pod and take to the track in the most immersive racing game to hit the PS4 yet.
Gran Turismo Sport is really shaping up to be a future classic, using the PS4’s power to deliver lifelike graphics and gameplay. Its makers have been so geeky in its development that they have studied the textures and grip levels of asphalt and built it into the game. Racing environments are dynamic with changeable weather and serious levels of detail – down to the interaction between a passing car and the branches of a tree.
As for cars, developers are promising over 140 in total – including a substantial number from the VW stable. Original cars also star, including a pretty stunning looking ‘Volkswagen GTI Vision’. And for those who take online gaming seriously, an FIA-approved racing licence can be obtained through the game allowing players to join a number of online series – again, approved by the FIA.
The Gran Turismo Sport demo isn’t the only good reason to visit VW’s stand at Goodwood. As we reported recently, VW is celebrating 40 years of GTI with the new Golf Clubsport S being joined by other versions of the iconic hot hatch.
